Chargers News: Justin Herbert Pleased to Hear DeAndre Hopkins Hopes to Suit Up With Him
Being a professional sports team in Los Angeles has perks. It’s sunny the majority of the time, the beaches aren’t too far and often times, athletes are drawn in to come play here. Now if you have a star player already in place, it becomes that much easier to lure players into town. This is exactly what the Los Angeles Chargers are dealing with right now since they do have a star at the quarterback position. Justin Herbert has climbed the ladder as a top player around the NFL and his peers have noticed.
Star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins mentioned in the past that he would love to catch passes from Herbert and Herbert seemed to appreciate the sentiment.
It's no wonder why a player like Hopkins would want to play with Herbert. He slings the ball all over the field and gets his guys involved in the passing game within their pass heavy offense. Hopkins has caught passes from many quarterbacks with less talent than Herbert so he likely wants to know what his stats could be with a top tier quarterback.
While dealing with injuries last season, Herbert still managed to throw for 4,739 yards and 25 touchdowns on the year. He also got the Chargers into the postseason for the first time since he joined the team and they will look to improve on that in 2023.
If the Bolts are able to add a high profile receiver like Hopkins, he could help take their offense to the next level. His ability to go up and grab a 50/50 ball may be the best in the game and he would give Herbert another piece of the puzzle to work with.
Hopkins has kept his plans close to the vest so far but there is always a possibility that he ends in the city of angels due to location and the star-power of Herbert.
