Washington Commanders 2021 first-round pick Jamin Davis is in trouble with the law and is now to face the judge on a charge of reckless driving.

Judge Stephen E. Sincavage rejected the young linebacker Davis having agreeing to a plea deal with the local attorney's office to accept eight days of jail time, so instead, Davis will have his Thursday in court.

Sincavage having declined that request came with the judge noting that the player not only chose to drive 114 mph in a 45-mph zone on Loudoun County Parkway in the spring of 2022, but that the area was densely-populated at the time. The judge also noted that the Commanders linebacker's driving record is "not clean."

And indeed, this isn't Davis' first brush with the law. Authorities also charged him with reckless driving in December of 2021.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera spoke Monday of being "supportive" of Davis.

“He's going through the legal process," Rivera said, as quoted by the Washington Post. "And we just got to be here and be supportive of him and understand that this is the legal process that he has to go through."

Davis was not at camp on Monday but has returned for Tuesday and Wednesday's workouts. Davis is set to enter his third NFL season with the Commanders.
