Why Hasn't Caleb Williams Declared for the 2024 NFL Draft Yet?

With just hours remaining until the deadline, this year's top QB prospect has yet to make an official decision.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is Monday, and there's one gigantic name still missing from the list.

USC's Caleb Williams, widely regarded as the top quarterback prospect in this year's class and the longtime favorite to be the No. 1 pick, has yet to make an official declaration of his plans for 2024.

After winning the Heisman Trophy in 2022, Williams had a roller-coaster of a 2023 season, but most draft projections still have him landing in the top spot, regardless of which team ends up picking there.

So, what's the holdup with Williams announcing a decision either way?

Kalyn Kahler, senior NFL write for The Athletic, recently broke down the situation in a Twitter thread:

There's a lot to digest there, and while it wouldn't come as a total shock if Williams genuinely has some seismic move up his sleeve to shake up the entire draft process, it still feels like the most likely scenario is an 11th-hour declaration.

Stay tuned.
