J.J. Watt, NFL World Praise Philadelphia Eagles Kelly Green Uniforms
For the first time since Week 1 of the 2010 season, the Philadelphia Eagles are sporting Kelly Green throwbacks for their Sunday Night Football tilt against the Miami Dolphins. And as one of the most iconic uniforms in NFL history makes its return on the national stage, it's getting almost universal acclaim.
Three-time Defensive Player of the Year Award winner J.J. Watt was among those who checked in on social media to praise the Kelly Green uniforms, and even had a suggestion for a throwback matchup between the Eagles and New York Giants.
Kelly Green was the primary color of the Eagles from 1935-1995, before Midnight Green was introduced in 1996. Despite winning three NFC titles and the franchise's first Super Bowl title in the Midnight Green Era, the desire for Kelly Green to return in some form has persisted.
Even receiver DeVonta Smith said this week that the Kelly Green uniforms -- slated to be worn again in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills -- should be more than just an alternate.
"I think this should just be the normal uniform," Smith said, per Zach Berman of PHLY. "This should be an every-game thing."
Pass rusher Josh Sweat echoed similar sentiments when the Kelly Green uniforms were reintroduced back in July.
"They need to be our permanent," Sweat said. "We can wear the black as an alternate. But the Kelly Green needs to be the main."
Rarely does social media have a universal opinion on something, but just about everyone on X -- the app formerly known as Twitter -- seems to think that the Kelly Green uniforms are pretty swell as well.
