Another Kelly Green Game Is Upcoming for Philadelphia Eagles
While the Philadelphia Eagles haven't yet announced what uniforms they plan to wear for their Week 11 Monday Night Football matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, it will presumably be their white jerseys as the home team at Arrowhead Stadium dons their red tops.
But once the Eagles conclude their Super Bowl LVII rematch with the Chiefs Monday, it will again be a Kelly Green week. Before the season, Philadelphia announced two times they plan to wear the iconic throwbacks this year, with the second being for their Week 12 matchup with the Buffalo Bills at Lincoln Financial Field.
Week 12 will mark the second time this season that the Eagles have worn the Kelly Green throwback uniforms, with the first coming during a 31-17 win against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football in Week 7. That game was the first time that the Eagles have worn Kelly Green since Week 1 of the 2010 season.
The uniforms drew widespread acclaim when they were sported this in Week 7, with Eagles wideout DeVonta Smith saying that he believes Kelly Green should replace Midnight Green as the full-time look for the Eagles again.
"I think this should just be the normal uniform," Smith said, per Zach Berman of PHLY. "This should be an every-game thing."
Smith isn't the only Eagle to share these sentiments, as pass rusher Josh Sweat had similar thoughts when the latest iteration of Kelly Green was introduced back in July.
"They need to be our permanent," Sweat said. "We can wear the black as an alternate. But the Kelly Green needs to be the main."
Speaking of the black alternate jerseys, the Eagles have yet to wear those this season. Philadelphia wore their all-black uniforms three times last season, even debuting a matching black helmet. However, teams only wear alternate uniforms three times a year typically, so with the reintroduction of Kelly Green, the black uniforms will likely become a once-a-year thing. When that will be in 2023 isn't clear, though Week 14 at the Dallas Cowboys and Week 16 vs. the New York Giants would seem like obvious candidates.
