The Detroit Lions lost an overtime heartbreaker, 30-24, to the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers in a Madden 23 simulation of their Week 4 matchup.

Its Vikk Simulations used updated rosters featuring offseason moves to simulate the showdown. With the loss, Detroit is now 2-2 in simulated games.

Though the game was closely contested, it would end just one play into overtime.

Jared Goff was intercepted by safety Innis Gaines, who ran untouched into the end zone for the game-winning score.

Detroit's defense tried valiantly to keep Green Bay out of the end zone on the opening possession.

The Packers were stopped three consecutive plays inside the Lions' 2, but Matt LaFleur's decision to go for it on fourth-and-goal paid off when Jordan Love hit Dontayvion Wicks for a short score.

Goff led the offense right back down the field looking to answer. However, David Montgomery was stood up on a fourth-and-goal toss play to turn the ball over.

Green Bay looked to be well on its way toward adding to its lead, but Love lost the ball and disaster struck. Executing a zone read, the signal-caller lost the football when he was hit by Alex Anzalone and Kerby Joseph.

Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley scooped up the loose ball and raced 79 yards for a score to even the score.

The Packers would get their revenge, however. After nailing a field goal to take a 10-7 lead into intermission, Darnell Savage posted a scoop-and-score of his own, when Jahmyr Gibbs lost the ball deep in Green Bay's red zone. This gave the Packers a 17-7 advantage heading into the fourth.

The Lions showed resilience. After driving for a field goal on the first drive of the fourth, Brian Branch forced a fumble on the ensuing kickoff to give Detroit's offense a short field.

It would take just one play for Goff and company to tie the game. He connected with Sam LaPorta for a 20-yard touchdown, to knot the game at 17 apiece.

Both teams exchanged punts, but Green Bay took the lead on a short touchdown from Aaron Jones, with just over 1:00 to play.

Once again, the Lions weren't out of the battle. After two short completions, Green Bay linebacker De'Vondre Campbell committed pass interference in the end zone, to allow the Lions a play to tie the game.

Goff and LaPorta connected once again to tie the score and send the game to overtime. Just one play into overtime, though, Gaines picked off a pass, and raced into the end zone for the game-winning score.
