The Detroit Lions look to earn their third win in a row Sunday when they host the Carolina Panthers at Ford Field.

Dan Campbell's team is looking to add to the best start of his era and improve its record to 4-1 on the young 2023 season. Standing in the way is the winless Panthers, who have shown plenty of fight despite their struggles.

Rookie quarterback Bryce Young has taken his lumps in three starts while showing flashes of the potential that made him the top selection this year's Draft. Defensively, Brian Burns and Derrick Brown anchor a ferocious pass rush.

The Lions will be without multiple key contributors on offense, as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs will miss the game with injuries. The prospects are more optimistic on defense, as Emmanuel Moseley will make his season debut and Kerby Joseph returns to action after missing the last two games.

There's also the debut of Jameson Williams, who will see his first action after his suspension was shortened from six games to four. He's expected to play a small role, while Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond contribute to the passing attack.

Despite St. Brown's absence, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson remained optimistic about the ability to move the ball through the air Sunday.

“Yeah, I feel good about all of our guys up this week. We’ll see as the week goes who exactly is available, but we have plans and contingency plans based on how the week goes for us, but we know it happens every year," Johnson told reporters Thursday. "And last year we played nine, 10 O-linemen. Last year we played nine, 10 receivers, just so happens we’re four games in and we’re already having this circle going on, so we were prepared for it. We talked about it all of training camp. The guys that made our practice squad, we talked about at the end of training camp that they were going to play significant minutes for us at some point this season, whether that’s this week, who knows? But at some point this year, they will and they prepare like that every week.”
