Ravens WR OBJ: 'I'm On Lamar Jackson's Team!'

Odell Beckham Jr. still can't believe he's on the same team as Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens.
In this story:

Even with Week One just over a week away, there are still moments for Odell Beckham Jr. when he finds himself in disbelief. That feeling comes not just from playing for the Baltimore Ravens, but the opportunity to be teammates with Lamar Jackson.

"To be on Lamar Jackson's team, I always joke with him and be like, 'I'm on Lamar Jackson's team,'" OBJ said on the Rich Eisen Show. "We're really on the same team. It's just crazy to me that this opportunity ended up happening."

When OBJ signed a one-year deal with the Ravens on Apr. 9, it was in the midst of Jackson's standoff with the franchise over a new contract. With the addition of OBJ, it was clear Baltimore and former MVP were making headway toward a new deal. Then 18 days later, Jackson signed a record-breaking contract extension.

Jackson first caught OBJ's eye when he was at Louisville. Even with Jackson yet to enter the league, OBJ noted his appreciation for him.

He also mentioned the noise he heard about Jackson's ability to throw. Any doubts have been all but quelled for OBJ after his first training camp with the Ravens.

"I remember when I was watching him in college," OBJ said. "Just being on his team and watching from afar, I've always had respect for him. I've always had a lot of love for him. I knew that I've seen a lot of hate when it came to him. Can he throw? Can he not throw? He's got a cannon. He's got a crazy arm."

Jackson and OBJ's connection will be instrumental in elevating the Ravens' offense. Along with their ability to build a rapport, they have to stay on the field. Jackson has missed five games in each of the last two seasons, and OBJ missed all of last year with a torn ACL.

If they can build a connection and stay healthy, Baltimore's passing game could be the best it has been since Jackson entered the league.

OBJ and Jackson will see the field together for the first time on Sept. 10 when they face the Houston Texans at M&T Bank Stadium at 1 p.m. ET.
