Bears Open Door for Steelers Trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers could land a young cornerback at the trade deadline.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are "open for business" at the trade deadline, and without having to dive very deep into thought, the immediate belief is that they need a cornerback.

Well, one is now available.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Chicago Bears have granted cornerback Jaylon Johnson permission to seek a trade. The 24-year-old has 45 games of starting experience under his belt since joining the league as a second-round pick in 2020 and has tallied two interceptions so far this season.

Meanwhile, the Steelers are trying to figure out their cornerback situation. Joey Porter Jr. was announced as the starter moving forward after his first start in Week 8, but Levi Wallace remains hurt with a foot injury and Patrick Peterson may have to bounce back to safety in the absence of Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The Steelers and Bears worked out a trade last season to send Chase Claypool to Chicago. Would they consider another move at the deadline this year?

Johnson could be worth a higher-round draft pick, but many trade predictions say a team could land him for a third or fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

If the Steelers wanted to make a move at corner, the opportunity has officially presented itself.
