Browns Talk Show Host Wishes Injury on Steelers Players
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns rivalry is always a hard-nosed fight. It's AFC North football, and as Mike Tomlin says, it's a "hot kitchen" to play in.
But there's always a level of respect in the game of football. Rivalry or not, players, coaches, fans and media want the best for the players on the field, even if they're rooting for their team to win. Never, should people root for players to be injured, and with how serious injuries have become in recent years, the emphasis on not wanting anyone to get hurt should only be growing.
Not for one Cleveland sports talk show host.
Appearing on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, Adam 'The Bull' Gerstenhaber said he wants the Browns to make sure Steelers players have to leave the field in Week 2.
"I want to see Steelers’ players, I know some people are going to cringe when I say this," Gerstenhaber said. "I don’t give a you-know-what. I need Steelers players to leave the game and need help to get off the field. Make all the cringe faces you want. I don’t want anyone permanently disabled or hurt permanently. Kick their behind."
Gerstenhaber used to work for 92.3 The Fan until last spring, and was a CBS Sports radio host from 2013 to 2018.
You can almost certainly say the Browns team doesn't follow the same notion Gerstenhaber does, but anyone wishing harm on players in the NFL - especially those who get in front of a camera - isn't respecting the game the way they should.
This one's tough to watch. Hopefully, the Steelers-Browns matchup is everything AFC North football should be, but is as clean of a game as they come on the injury front.
