Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick Rips Teammates After Loss

The Pittsburgh Steelers superstar didn't hold back about his frustrations with the team's mentality.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made NFL history after consecutive losses to 2-10 football teams, and after their Week 14 defeat by the New England Patriots, emotions started to boil over.

After the game, Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick gave a powerful and honest answer to the problems within the team.

"I think too many people don’t want to toil for it," Fitzpatrick told ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "They just want to walk out here and think that they’re going to make plays and think that they’re going to perform at a high level. I think we need to have more people who want to work for it, not expect it to be handed to them. This is the NFL. Nothing’s handed to you. You got to earn everything. I think that dudes just think that because they’re wearing the black and gold, that they’re going to win games, and I think we need to check that mentality and make people realize that they got to earn that mentality."

Earlier in the week, following the team's loss to the Cardinals, wide receiver Diontae Johnson admitted the team felt like they overlooked a 2-10 Arizona team.

"I felt like that the whole week. Once we got out there, I felt like something was different," Johnson said. "We wasn’t at our best. I feel like we just took them lightly."

Pittsburgh is now on the outside looking in within the AFC playoff picture. Two games ago, they were battling as a contender for the top spot in the conference.

How they fix the mentality issues will go a long way in determining the outcome of the season, but with four tough games ahead against the Colts, Bengals, Seahawks and Ravens, the Steelers' season is in jeopardy.
