Steelers QB Kenny Pickett 'Fore Sure' Playing Against Titans
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will have their starting quarterback on the field in Week 9 when they face the Tennessee Titans. Kenny Pickett told reporters that, despite a rib injury, he will "for sure" be playing on Thursday Night Football.
Pickett left Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with the rib injury. He attempted to warm up following halftime but was unable to return. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the door was open for him to play on a short week, and the quarterback is confident he'll be feeling good enough to go.
"It’ll be better in a couple of days," Pickett said. "It’s still early."
Pickett said the injury hurts most when he attempts to throw but believes it does not impact his motion enough to disrupt his ability in-game.
"I felt like I couldn’t throw it the way I needed to throw it to help us to win," he said.
The Steelers will hold their final practice on Wednesday before making a decision on Pickett's availability. If for some reason Pickett is unable to go, Mitch Trubisky would start.
