Steelers Leave Door Open for Kenny Pickett
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are leaving the door open for Kenny Pickett to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 9. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the team will make a game-time decision on their quarterback prior to kickoff.
Pickett left Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a rib injury. Despite attempting to warm up afterward, he was unable to return to the game. Tomlin said there is no structural damage for Pickett, and let his participation in practice be their guide on whether or not he'll play.
If Pickett is out, the Steelers will turn to Mitch Trubisky as their starter. Trubisky is 2-3 as a starter in Pittsburgh, but threw two interceptions after replacing Pickett in Week 8.
Mason Rudolph is available as a backup for the Steelers.
Pittsburgh will hold a full practice on Wednesday before they host the Titans on Thursday night. Tomlin said Pickett will be tested then before a final decision is made.
