Steelers' Najee Harris Part of RB Group Looking to Change NFL

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris is part of an elite running back group who are planning to take action for their devolving market.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers don't have to worry about a running back contract extension for another year or two, but Najee Harris is already working on fixing the RB problem around the NFL.

According to Dov Kleiman, Harris was part of a running back zoom call where some of the league's top backfield names discussed ways to fix a devalued market.

Others on the call included Austin Ekler, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, Tony Pollard, Nick Chubb, Aaron Jones, Joe Mixon and JK Dobbins.

Harris shared his thoughts on the drowning market after Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs failed to reach long-term extensions with their teams prior to the deadline. Now, both players will need to either play under the franchise tag or sit out this season.

"I agree with my running back brothers around the NFL- history will show that you need running backs to win- we set the tone every game and run through walls for our team and lead in many ways- this notion that we deserve less is a joke," Harris wrote on Twitter.

Harris' rookie deal isn't over until next offseason, and if the Steelers decide to pick up his fifth-year option, he's on the books for another two seasons after 2023.

Still, with the running back problem taking center stage of NFL headlines this offseason, Harris is jumping on board to try and solve the problem before he has to negotiate his next deal.
