Steelers Place Anthony McFarland on IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers shut down their starting kick returner for at least four games.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are shutting down running back and kick returner Anthony McFarland for at least four weeks, placing him on Injured Reserve due to a knee injury.

McFarland popped up on the injury report during practice this week after not being mentioned as an injury that occurred in-game against the 49ers. He missed the entire week before the team decided to place him on IR, which will force him to miss a minimum of four games.

It's unknown what the knee injury is or how long McFarland will need to miss. To replace him, the Steelers will turn to Calvin Austin and Gunner Olszewski as their kick returner, and have promoted practice squad running back Qadree Ollison to the active/inactive list for Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns.

Ollison's promotion means he will revert back to the practice squad without having to pass through waivers after the game.
