Steelers Host Two Later-Round WRs for Pre-Draft Visits
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers continue stacking up pre-draft visits, with their most recent coming at the wide receiver position. Over the last week, the team has brought in Ole Miss wideout Jonathan Mingo and N.C. State's Thayer Thomas.
Mingo, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound receiver, ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine after catching 51 passes for 816 yards and five touchdowns this past season.
Thomas had a private workout with the Steelers, according to Pack Pride's Cory Smith. He unofficially posted a 4.5 40-yard dash, 37-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump.
Thomas leaves N.C. State with 2,484 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns, including 642 yards this past season.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan said at the League Meetings that the team is still searching for a slot receiver. Currently, the team has Calvin Austin III as their expected starter in the middle. He should remain in that position, but Pittsburgh will be looking to add another name to the mix - possibly a bigger body like they've tried to find in JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool the last two years.
