Silence is Golden for Titans Rookie OL Peter Skoronski

The Tennessee Titans are heading towards training camp and we haven't heard a lot about first rounder Peter Skoronski, but that is a fantastic thing.

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans made what some consider a boring pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft when they picked offensive lineman Peter Skoronski out of Northwestern. So far, boring is a great way to describe Skoronski's tenure with the Titans, but that is a great thing.

Throughout the last few years the talk around the Titans first-round pick has been anything but boring. Honestly, it has been terrifying. A trend the Titans are certainly excited to buck.

In 2020, the Titans saw the disaster that was Isaiah Wilson. Wilson is one of the biggest busts in NFL history and it was pretty clear from the jump that Wilson was struggling. He wasn't conditioned and never even sniffed a starting role. Knowing what we know now, that isn't much of a shock.

In 2021, you had the recovery of Caleb Farley who was coming off an injury-plagued college career. Recovering from a back injury set Farley behind and even into his second season, Farley struggled. His struggles were well-documented.

Even in 2022, Treylon Burks was in the headlines for his lack of conditioning and a public battle with Asthma. We saw videos of Burks hitting an inhaler by the locker room and got reports of him being unable to finish practice.

Burks looks to have turned things around and everyone seems to be very high on what Burks can do in 2023, but that doesn't change the drama that was his first few months with the team.

That is why the relative silence around Skoronski is deafening. Skoronski has not made headlines. He has simply come in, done the job and not been a distraction. Not only that, but Skoronski is in the starting lineup from the jump even though he is switching positions from college.

Skoronski may have been a boring pick and may have gotten off to a boring start, but that Titans need boring right now because winning games, which Skoronski will help them do, will be anything but boring.
