NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans will head into training camp in just over a month and before you know it they will be trimming the roster from 90 to 53 players. Now we know exactly what date that cutdown will take place along with information on the trade deadline, 2024 free agency and the 2024 NFL draft after the NFL released their official calendar for the next year.

Roster Cutdown Day - August 29, 2023 at 4pm ET

NFL Trade Deadline - October 31, 2023 at 4pm ET

2024 NFL Draft - April 25-27, 2024

All of these dates will have major implications for the Titans, as they will for all teams in the NFL, but based on how the Titans are positioned, each event could be that much more important for them.

First, roster cutdown day is something that the Titans will have to manage in an interesting way. There are several positions that will require them to choose between a younger prospect they think can develop or a veteran they can rely on. With the Titans teetering on the fence of a rebuild or re-tool, those decisions will be critical.

Using the same thought process, the Titans will again have a choice at the trade deadline that will largely be dependent on how the season is going when it arrives. If the Titans are not looking so hot and losing games, they could choose to offload some veterans at the deadline to recoup future picks.

On the flipside, if the Titans are overperforming and look like a contender, the front office could choose to add reinforcements. It is a true crossroads for the Titans that we will watch intently as it unfolds.

Free agency and the draft are self-explanatory, but if the Titans let players like Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry go after their contracts expire after the season, these two player-acquisition events will have more importance than ever before as the Titans try to rebuild their team.
