Titans Offensive Supporting Cast Ranked Bottom 4 in NFL per ESPN

As list and ranking season enters it's climax, it is no surprise to see the Titans' offense ranked low on yet another ranking of overall talent. This time the list comes from ESPN's Bill Barnwell.

NASHVILLE — Here we go again. The Tennessee Titans were once again ranked near the bottom of the NFL in a ranking or list. This list? Top offensive skill groups in the NFL. The writer? Bill Barnwell from ESPN. Let's dive in.

The Tennessee Titans land in the bottom four of the NFL in the ranking that takes into account wide receivers, running backs and tight ends. At the 29th spot, the Titans only have three teams ranked worse. In order, the Arizona Cardinals, the Carolina Panthers and the Houston Texans coming in at last.

None of these teams have a player on the offensive side of the ball that is better than Derrick Henry. That alone sets the Titans above. You could also argue, with Marquise Brown from Arizona as a possible debate, that Treylon Burks is the best wide receiver out of the bottom four teams.

Dalton Schultz, the newly-signed tight end for the Texans, is probably the best tight end on any of the four teams, but Titans second-year player, Chig Okonkwo, is easily second with Cardinals' tight end Zach Ertz dealing with injury recovery.

Here is an excerpt of what Barnwell had to say about his ranking of the Titans:

"Is any team thinner at the skill position spots than Tennessee? Its second-best wide receiver is Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, who ranked 87th out of 97 wideouts in yards per route run a year ago. The Titans' third wideout is Kyle Philips, a fifth-round pick who had eight catches last season. Their second tight end is Trevon Wesco or fifth-round rookie Josh Whyle, and their primary backup at running back is rookie Tyjae Spears, who is 5-foot-9 and reportedly might be missing an ACL in one of his knees. These guys are all going to need to play, in some cases regularly, in 2023."

Yikes. Reading that hammers home what most worried about with the Titans' offense all offseason. They simply don't have enough NFL starting-quality players on the offense. Okonkwo, Burks and Henry make up and end the list of starting NFL talent. This makes the desperation to sign DeAndre Hopkins very real.

Either way, rankings season will have to come to an end and the games will start to be played. Once that happens, we will see just how bad the Titans' offense will be or we will see the Titans prove a ton of folks around the NFL wrong.
