Auburn has a great chance end the 2023 season on a strong note
Auburn is currently in need of something to stop the skid.
The Tigers are off to their first 0-4 start in SEC play for the first time since 2012. It's been an ugly start to the year, and Hugh Freeze has expressed great frustration in his offense throughout the process.
Just because it's bad now doesn't mean it has to end that way. Auburn can definitely turn this thing around.
Take a look at how ESPN's FPI projects the Tigers' final five games of the season to go:
Vs Mississippi State - 62.7% chance to win
At Vanderbilt - 81.7% chance to win
At Arkansas - 41.9% chance to win
Vs New Mexico State - 91.1% chance to win
Vs Alabama - 15.0% chance to win
Final record: 6-6, 2-6 SEC
The ceiling for this team is now likely capped at 8-5 with a potential bowl victory. That would be a great final record to finish at for Hugh Freeze in his first season, all things considered.
Auburn needs a bounce back win badly. It starts this week against Mississippi State, a team that just lost their starting quarterback. This is a game the Tigers can win.
Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt. They have one of the worst offenses and defenses in the league and found a way to lost to UNLV.
Although the Tigers only have a 41% chance to beat Arkansas, let the record show that the Hogs just scored three points in a 7-3 loss to Mississippi State.
At home.
If State can do it, Auburn can as well.
New Mexico State has already reached bowl eligibility but doesn't have the roster to beat the Tigers.
Alabama will probably come into Jordan-Hare and come away with a victory, although it's not guaranteed. All of this to say there's no reason Auburn can't rebound over this final stretch of the year and make a bowl game.
Let's see if Hugh Freeze and the Tigers have it in them.
