Kentucky Guard CJ Fredrick Transferring to Cincinnati
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats added their second transfer of the cycle in Kentucky veteran guard CJ Fredrick.
He has two years of eligibility left and takes one of UC's two open roster spots.
The Cincinnati native averaged 6.1 points and 1.5 assists in 22.2 minutes per game last season. He's three years at Iowa and two at Kentucky. Fredrick was a 46.6% three-point shooter at Iowa.
Injuries have taken enough of a toll on Frederick to have him contemplate retirement this offseason, but he's running it back for one final CBB run. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard can be a red-hot shooter, but he hasn't hit those heights in years after shooting 31.8% from three on 4 attempts per game last season.
His projected skillset fills a massive shooting hole left by David DeJulius, Landers Nolley II, and Jeremiah Davenport. From 2019-21, Fredrick shot 49.4% from two-point range and 46.6% from deep (3.4 attempts per game) for Iowa.
Fredrick is not ranked among On3's top 300 available transfers as of this writing.
