On3 Ranks Jizzle James Among Top-10 Big 12 freshmen

Cincinnati is rolling out a new-look backcourt during the 2023-24 season.

CINCINNATI — On3's Jame Shaw rattled through his most impactful Big 12 freshmen this week and Cincinnati point guard Jizzle James landed among the group at No. 7.

The explosive guard should have plenty of on-ball chances as he splits main guard duties with Day Day Thomas heading into the season.

"Jizzle James, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, is a quick-twitch, tough-minded point guard," Shaw wrote. "Cincinnati brings in seven new players after losing four starters, including both players from its starting backcourt. James should be competing for the starting position. Day Day Thomas, a newcomer from the JUCO ranks, should be James’ main competition."

During his final EYBL session this past summer, James earned MVP honors, averaging 20 points while shooting 56% from the field, 3.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals a game for the Florida Rebels. He is one of 247Sports 10 highest-rated commitments to Cincinnati since 2002.
