Recruiting Roundup: Five-Star 2026 Point Guard Marcus Johnson Visiting UC; Offer Sent to Four-Star Offensive Tackle Rowan Byrne

Cincinnati is after some major talent on the hardwood.

CINCINNATI — UC football and basketball have some interesting recruiting nuggets to get to in the latest Recruiting Roundup, starting with an unofficial visit from five-star 2026 prospect Marcus Johnson out of Garfield Heights (Ohio).

The five-star talent got a UC offer last summer and is visiting campus on Aug. 2. ESPN has him ranked 11th nationally and second among point guards

At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Johnson holds 13 offers after a strong freshman campaign. 

He earned MaxPreps second-team Freshman All-American status. The campaign ended with a Division I first-team All-Ohio pick and the Lake Erie League Player of the Year as he led the Bulldogs (22-4) to the Division I regional finals. Johnson topped the team in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per contest as a true freshman.

Johnson was one of 39 players to try out for the Team USA U-16 national team but did not make the final cut.

Moving to the gridiron, Cincinnati offered three-star 2025 Mishawaka (Indiana) defensive lineman Carmine Orozco.

According to 247Sports, Orozco is the 62nd-ranked defensive lineman nationally and the 12th-best player in Indiana.

The 6-foot-4, 272-pound defender holds five other offers from schools like Toledo and Ball State.

Cincinnati also offered four-star 2025 offensive tackle Rowan Bryne out of Iona Preparatory School (New York).

According to On3, Byrne is the 216th-ranked player nationally and the 17th-best offensive tackle.

Bryne has 21 offers from schools like Ohio State, Duke, and Florida.

The roundup closes with an offer to three-star 2025 offensive tackle Jayden Clark out of Northmont (Ohio).

According to On3, Clark is the 424th-ranked player nationally and the 16th-best offensive tackle.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound mauler holds five other offers from schools like Miami (OH) and Pittsburgh.
