CINCINNATI — Only one big question mark remains for the 2023-24 UC men's basketball program: Will Jamille Reynolds and Aziz Bandaogo receive second-time transfer waivers from the NCAA?

No official verdict has come down as of this writing, but head coach Wes Miller appeared on The College Hoops Today Podcast this week and discussed the situation with Jon Rothstein.

Miller and his staff made sure to focus on players with a good chance of earning the needed waiver. The head coach affirmed that the team has a contingency plan if those aren't granted.

"Going through the recruiting process," Miller told Jon Rothstein. "That was an important part of the recruiting process to both of those young men. And it was certainly important to our staff to really try to see if those guys met the criteria that the NCAA has laid out for waivers. And there was a process there that we really tried to follow based on the NCAA guidelines. You know, it was important to both of those players that they understood it correctly.

"We believe those guys meet that criteria that's been laid out. We're going through the process, the way the NCAA has laid out for schools and student-athletes to approach that process. But as you mentioned, you know, you never know you believe that they made it, but you never know. So I think you do plan accordingly. But for both of those young men, you know, I do hope that it works out and I do believe it should work out. But we'll kind of let the process play out the way the NCAA has laid out."

Reynolds already transferred from UCF to Temple in his career, while Bandaogo transferred from Akron to Utah Valley. They are not graduate transfers, so they are subject to the NCAA review process. If they don't get approved, both would have to sit out for one season before resuming their college careers.

Forward is one of the Bearcats' biggest strengths if those two strong talents can get approved. If not, a lot more responsibility gets put on the plate of guys like Viktor Lakhin, Ody Oguama, and Sage Tolentino.
