CINCINNATI — Colorado isn't going to be the only new school joining the Big 12 to maintain a 14-member outfit.

The Action Network's Brett McMurphy reports that the conference is gauging interest from other Pac-12 schools, and if none of those end up hopping aboard, they will look to a Group of Five school.

Those candidates are reportedly UConn, Memphis, San Diego State and UNLV.

McMurphy even brought up a 16-school setup, mirroring the growth of the SEC and the Big 10.

“The dream scenario for the Big 12 would be to get the ‘Four Corner’ schools,” a source said to McMurphy, in reference to Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, Arizona State, and Utah told McMurphy.

McMurphy also confirmed that if a Power Five school joins Colorado, they would also get the same full-rights-media deal immediately ($31.7 million per year) and a Group of Five school would not.

Arizona has been tied to a move alongside Colorado for months now and seems like the logical choice, especially as a way to further cement the conference's status in college basketball.

All in all the league wants to keep growing as college athletics embraces super conferences more and more.
