Alec Pierce Named Starter for Indianapolis Colts

The receiver joins two other Bearcats rookies as day-one starters in the NFL.

CINCINNATI — Coby Bryant and Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner have some company as rookie week one starters in the NFL. The Indianapolis Colts listed Alec Pierce as their other starting wide receiver on the boundary opposite Michael Pittman Jr.

Pierce made plays throughout the Colts' fall camp and it looks like he's meeting the expectations fans had for him as the second Bearcat selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He's made a strong early connection with QB Matt Ryan and should be a nice vertical complement to Pittman and Parris Campbell. Pierce finished the 2022 preseason with three catches on four targets for 36 yards.

Pierce, Bryant, and Gardner are already starting in the NFL and it wouldn't be a shock if that number doubles out of the 2022 draft class. Desmond Ridder, Bryan Cook, and Myjai Sanders all have paths to starting roles by the end of the season.
