CINCINNATI — Two former Bearcats football coaches are candidates for the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Tommy Tuberville (2013-2016) and Mark Dantonio (2004-2006) are up for a vote.

Tuberville went 29-22 overall at UC, including an 0-3 bowl record. He is most well known for his time at Auburn (1999-2008). The Tigers went 85-40 over that time, including 5-3 in bowl games.

Dantonio got his college head coaching career started at UC with an 18-17 record before coaching Michigan State from 2007-2019. He went 114-57 over that time, including a 6-6 bowl record (2013 Rose Bowl Champions).

“We employ a rigorous set of objective standards to identify only the worthiest candidates, and the criteria limits us to a pool of approximately 1,500 First Team All-Americans," NFF Chairman Archie Manning wrote in a press release. "A district screening system further culls the list to the names you find on the ballot. As you can see, just being on the ballot is a huge honor, and all of the names seen here rank among the greatest players to ever set foot on the collegiate gridiron. The membership vote plays an important role, providing key insights to the NFF Honors Court, which makes the final decision on the inductees.”

The candidate pool encompasses 78 players and nine coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 101 players and 32 coaches from the divisional ranks.
