UC Adds Commitment From Three-Star 2024 Running Back Jason Patterson
CINCINNATI — UC football added another talent to the 2024 class in three-star running back Jason Patterson out of Sneads (Florida).
He chose Cincinnati over Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Rutgers, and Boston College after visiting the campus in the middle of June.
According to 247Sports, Patterson is the 471st-ranked player nationally and the 37th-ranked running back.
ESPN has Patterson rated as a four-star talent. He's their 279th ranked player nationally and the 19th-best running back.
He posted a massive junior season, rushing for 2,714 yards on 206 carries with 35 touchdowns. Patterson is a home-run-hitting nightmare in Sneads' option-based attack.
He hits holes at lightspeed and has a fifth gear that not many can touch in the open field. As a receiver, he runs nice short-area routes and can damage teams on that front.
One of his most striking skills is a nasty left-to-right cut that he usually starts right before the line of scrimmage. His highlight reel is basically all touchdowns that showcase his strong rushing angles and no-nonsense approach. That hard-hole hitting is perfect for the outside-zone rushing attack. A big question surrounding Patterson is pass blocking, which I didn't see much of on film.
He joins Jakorion Caffey as the second running back in the class and is the highest-rated player in the 20-person group, tied at 89 overall with tight end Gavin Grover on 247Sports.
