Three Players to Watch For Georgia Against Vandy

After dominating the Kentucky Wildcats to hold sole possession of the SEC East, these three players you should watch for against Vanderbilt.

After dominating their biggest season opponent thus far with the Kentucky Wildcats, the Georgia Bulldogs prepare to do the same this weekend against the Vanderbilt Commodores. With the Bulldogs coming into this game as heavy favorites (spread of -31.5), there are a few players to look for in this game.

Carson Beck

After a dominating performance that saw Carson Beck win the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, Beck is coming to Nashville for the first time as Georgia's starting quarterback. Vanderbilt's defense ranks 112th nationally in their passing defense, giving up 263.7 yards per game. Beck ranks fourth nationally in passing yards and has also picked up 11 touchdowns while only giving up three interceptions. Beck could push the envelope for another 230-plus yard game before likely being taken out for Brock Vandagriff in the second half.

Daijun Edwards

Daijun Edwards has burst onto the scene with his lethal dead leg, while Kendall Milton has been slowly returning from his hamstring injury. Milton did see more touches against Kentucky, but Milton was needed in that game. He likely won't see the same amount of reps that he did against Kentucky, so the first team reps will then be in the hands of Edwards. With a Vandy rush defense that ranks 91st nationally, giving up 157.4 rushing yards per game, Edwards could breakout for his second 100-yard game this season before getting his rest when the game is likely out of hand.

Kamari Lassiter

The one spot of Vanderbilt's team that shines the most is their passing attack led by A.J. Swann. The Commodores are tied for 36th in the nation as far as their passing attack is concerned. Swann has passed for 1,290 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions but has only completed 53.8% of his passes. Though the numbers are impressive, the last three starts for Swann saw him throw six interceptions, which then led to head coach Clark Lea benching him for Kenny Seals. Will Sheppard, Vandy's primary target, has been excellent this season, hauling in 550 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 15.7 yards per catch. Lassiter will be paired against the talented WR1 and will have his hands full with the talented senior wide receiver.

Georgia will be traveling to Nashville, TN, to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday at Noon. The game will be televised on CBS. The Dawgs are favored in this game with a spread of -31.5. These three players will help put the game out of hand early and move the Bulldogs to 7-0.
