Ole Miss Guard Amaree Abram Commits To Georgia Tech

Abram is now the fifth transfer in the Yellow Jackets class

Ole Miss transfer Amaree Abram is committing to Georgia Tech.

Abram becomes the fifth transfer to commit to the Yellow Jackets under head coach Damon Stoudamire. Abram is going to be joining Kowacie Reeves (Florida), Ebenezer Dowuona (NC State), Tyzhaun Claude (Western Carolina), and Tafara Gapare (UMass) as the transfers joining the program this offseason.

Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Maryland were some of the other programs that Abram was reportedly considering.

Last season as a freshman, Abram averaged 8 PPG, 2 APG, and 2 RPG in 21 minutes per game. He also shot 36% from three-point range last season.

The Ole Miss point guard is ranked as the 30th-best player in the portal according to 247Sports.

I think this is a very good get for this team next season. Abram could be the starting point guard and this team is a lot more athletic than it was a year ago. Abram will be a big part of Stoudamire's first team in the 2023-2024 season.

While Stoudamire has brought in these talented players, there has been an exodus of players leaving as well.

Guard Deivon Smith, guard Tristan Maxwell, center Cyril Martynov, forward Freds Pauls Bagatskis, forward Jordan Meka, and center Rodney Howard have all entered the transfer portal. Howard and Smith have been contributors over the past couple of seasons, but the others had small roles.

Guard Miles Kelly, the Yellow Jackets leading scorer last season, declared for the NBA Draft, but is maintaining his collegiate eligibility and could return.

Stoudamire has had plenty of work to do in the portal and he might not be done yet. Stay tuned for more portal updates.
