Presbyterian Transfer Jalen Forrest Commits to Georgia Tech

Forrest is the son of former Georgia Tech star James Forrest

Georgia Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire has once again added a player via the transfer portal.

This time it is someone that has ties to Georgia Tech. Presbyterian transfer Jalen Forrest, son of former Georgia Tech star James Forrest, has committed to play for Stoudamire and the Yellow Jackets today.

Last season at Presbyterian, Forrest averaged 11.3 PPG, 2.7 RPG, and 1.4 APG for the Blue Hose. He played in 27 games and averaged 26.3 minutes per game. He shot 37% from the field and 31% from three.

While the shooting numbers need to improve, this seems like a good addition, even if it is just for depth. Forrest is a talented guard at 6'4 230 LBS and has only played one season so he still has a lot of room to grow and improve, which is a theme for this entire transfer class.

Forrest becomes the sixth transfer to commit to the Yellow Jackets under  Stoudamire. Forrest is going to be joining Kowacie Reeves (Florida), Ebenezer Dowuona (NC State), Tyzhaun Claude (Western Carolina), Tafara Gapare (UMass), and Amaree Abram (Ole Miss) as the transfers joining the program this offseason.

While Stoudamire has brought in these talented players, there has been an exodus of players leaving as well.

Guard Deivon Smith, guard Tristan Maxwell, center Cyril Martynov, forward Freds Pauls Bagatskis, forward Jordan Meka, and center Rodney Howard have all entered the transfer portal. Howard and Smith have been contributors over the past couple of seasons, but the others had small roles.

Guard Miles Kelly, the Yellow Jackets leading scorer last season, declared for the NBA Draft, but is maintaining his collegiate eligibility and could return.

Before this addition, Georgia Tech had the 10th-ranked transfer class according to 247Sports.
