Georgia Tech's Three-Point Shooting Sinks Syracuse In 96-76 Blowout

Georgia Tech went on the road and blew out Syracuse for their first ACC road win

Georgia Tech gave their best performance of the season tonight in a blowout win over Syracuse. 

The offense was fantastic against the Syracuse zone defense and the Yellow Jackets got their first ACC road win this season. Georgia Tech is playing well going into next week's ACC Tournament and this was a great team win tonight. 

Syracuse came into this game as a nine-point favorite on Caesars Sportsbook. 

The Yellow Jackets kept their starting lineup to Miles Kelly, Lance Terry, Kyle Sturdivant, Deebo Coleman, and Ja'von Franklin. 

Georgia Tech got out to a quick 10-4 run in the first three minutes of the game and that was a glimpse of how the game would go. The Orange answered and cut the lead to 10-9. The teams would go back and forth for the next couple of minutes and with 13:42 left in the first half, Syracuse held a slight lead, 19-18. 

Sturdivant nailed a three and the Yellow Jackets immediately retook the lead. After the Orange tied the game at 21-21. Georgia Tech would respond with an 8-0 run to quickly get an eight-point lead 29-21. Georgia Tech would keep it like this for the rest of the 1st half and Syracuse was unable to cut significantly into the lead.

While Georgia Tech did lead by nine going into the half, it was fair to wonder if they would be able to keep up shooting 45% from three for the rest of the game. 

The answer would be a resounding yes. 

The Yellow Jackets would hit a couple of threes and get out to an 8-0 run to increase the lead to 17 points and it was a beatdown from there. In just the first four minutes of the 2nd half, Georgia Tech already had 16 points and led 69-46. The lead would get as high as 28 in the second half and Georgia Tech would win by a final score of 96-76. 

For the game, Georgia Tech shot 52% from the field and 45% from three-point range. The Yellow Jackets outrebounded Syracuse 34-28 and had 12 points off of 10 Syracuse turnovers. 

Georgia Tech's starters played nearly the whole game. Kelly led the way with 30 points on 10-19 shooting, including seven three-pointers. Terry had 24 points and shot 7-10 from three, Fraklin had a triple-double with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, and Sturdivant had 20 points. 

Georgia Tech has now won four of its past five games and has good momentum heading into the ACC Tournament. The Yellow Jackets' regular season finale will be at Boston College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
