Miles Kelly Named ACC Player Of The Week

Georgia Tech guard Miles Kelly had two big games this week that resulted in wins

After a terrific week of play that resulted in wins over Syracuse and Boston College and setting a new career high in points, Georgia Tech's Miles Kelly has been named the ACC player of the week.

For the week, Kelly averaged 25.5 points, hitting 17-of-33 shots from the floor (51.5 percent) and 12-of-25 from three-point range (48 percent). Over his last six games, the Stone Mountain, Ga., native has averaged 20.2 points while connecting 49.4 percent of his shots from the floor and 45.9 percent of his three-point tries (Per Georgia Tech PR).

Kelly scored a career-high 30 points in the Yellow Jackets win at Syracuse, hitting 10 of 19 shots from the floor and 7-of-14 from three-point range, all career highs, in a game the Jackets ran away with in the second half. He followed that performance by scoring 21 points at Boston College, hitting 7-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-11 from three-point range. In that game, he made a pair of threes to start an 11-0 run to rally the Jackets back from a 55-46 deficit, then added another from NBA range to give the Jackets the lead for good, 66-63 with 1:46 to go (Per Georgia Tech PR)

The play of Kelly has been a big reason why Georgia Tech has been playing its best basketball of the season heading into the ACC Tournament. Georgia Tech has won five of its last seven and three straight and Kelly, Lance Terry, and Ja'von Franklin have been having a great stretch of the season.

Georgia Tech has been playing a tight rotation lately and that has given Kelly an opportunity to play big minutes and shine his offensive talent. He can get hot from the field in a hurry and he can make the Yellow Jackets' offense pretty potent when he is connecting on shots.

Kelly currently ranks 20th in the ACC in scoring, averaging 14.2 PPG, and also 21st in field goal percentage at 40.9%. Kelly is sixth in the ACC in three-point field goal percentage, coming in at 37.8%

Georgia Tech is going to begin ACC Tournament play tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against Florida State. Win that game and they will face fifth-seeded Pittsburgh on Wednesday at 2:30.
