Watch: Georgia Tech Buzzer Beating Shot Against Notre Dame
What a way for Georgia Tech to end their nine-game losing streak.
Georgia Tech needed a win at home against Notre Dame to snap this losing streak and this was a back-and-forth game that was going to come down to the final shot. The Yellow Jackets and the Fighting Irish played a similar game out in South Bend the last time these two teams met, but Notre Dame found a way to win.
Lance Terry was not about to let the same thing happen again. Terry has been great since returning to the lineup and he proved his worth tonight. He not only hit the game-winning shot but lead the team in scoring tonight.
Notre Dame led the game 64-60 with 5:50 to go and that is when Georgia Tech went on their most critical run of the game. An 8-0 run from the Yellow Jackets got the lead back and Georgia Tech led 68-64 with 2:58 left. Notre Dame hit a layup and then a pair of free throws to tie the game at 68-68 with 1:58 left.
Then neither team wanted to score.
Georgia Tech had the ball with five seconds left and then Terry hit the putback from the Kyle Sturdivant miss to give Georgia Tech the win.
