Kentucky Briefing: ESPN's Football Power Index rankings are disrespecting the Wildcats
The ESPN FPI (Football Power Index) predicts each college football team's record and gives each team a probability to win their division and conference.
Kentucky was ranked 28th in these FPI rankings, but they were ten spots behind the Florida Gators, who were ranked 18th.
This makes zero sense to me as I am a "Gator Hater" this season and don't believe they will have a good year with Graham Mertz throwing the football.
These FPI rankings project the Wildcat's record to be 7.1-4.9. They have an 81.9% chance to win more than six games and were given a 3.2% chance to win the SEC East.
The Gator's chance to win the East was 5.6% which is just crazy to me.
People are severely underrating this Kentucky football team, but soon Coach Stoops's squad will be ready to show the world why they should have been higher on this Cats team.
Talking Hoops
True freshman Joey Hart and Jordan Burks could have an Adou Thiero-type Kentucky career.
Thiero was a three-star recruit who many didn't expect to play much during his freshman year for the Wildcats.
He didn't play all that much his freshman season but was able to develop and looks like a whole different player now than when he arrived in Lexington.
I think we could see a similar career path for Hart and Burks who were also three-star recruits. You won't see a ton of them this season, but after a year in the system, perhaps they could help this team out during the 2024-25 season.
Having depth never hurts, so having these guys on the bench for the Wildcats makes this team feel deeper than it already is.
We love players sticking around, and you can expect to see Hart and Burks in a Kentucky uniform for many years.

Andrew Stefaniak recently wrote about what senior running back Ray Davis brings to the Kentucky football team.
"Davis ran for 1,042 yards and five touchdowns a season ago for the Commodores. He had 26 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown against the Wildcats in Lexington last year."
"I expect Davis to put up more yards on the ground this season for the Wildcats than he did a year ago at Vanderbilt."
