Four Buckeyes With Top-30 Heisman Trophy Odds For 2023

The Ohio State Buckeyes are loaded with offensive weaponry and DraftKings Sportsbook seems to agree.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the quarterback battle in Columbus has already been resolved.

The sportsbook has Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord tied with Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar for the 11th-best odds to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy at +2200. McCord's high school teammate at St. Joseph's Prep and projected top-five selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., has the second-best odds of any Buckeye, the 15th-best odds overall and is the top non-quarterback pick for the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner at +2800.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson isn't far behind Harrison, as he is tied for 16th with Michigan Wolverines running back Blake Corum at 30-1 odds. For Henderson's stock to rise back up to what it once was, he will have to remain fully healthy after a foot injury hampered his play last year as well as return to his freshman season level of play — and sloppy quarterback play, in what is expected to be a pass-happy Buckeyes offense, couldn't hurt either.

Las Vegas still thinks there's a slim chance Devin Brown wins the quarterback battle coming out of fall camp holding the 27th-best odds at +6000. If Brown is the one trotting onto the field at Memorial Stadium Week 1 against Indiana, betting him as a Heisman contender now would be a tremendous value play as his odds would likely plummet after earning the starting job.

Buckeyes are no strangers to going to New York City for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, though. Being that the Heisman Trophy has shifted towards a predominantly won-by-quarterback-award, it isn't surprising that each of the last three Ohio State starting quarterbacks has been a finalist.

Dwayne Haskins made the trip to New York in 2018, Justin Fields and former defensive end Chase Young went in 2019 and C.J. Stroud was a finalist each of the last two seasons.

Ohio State has had six different winners of the award, but no Buckeye has hoisted the Heisman Trophy since Troy Smith did so in 2006. Ohio State holds the honor of producing the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in former running back Archie Griffin.
