Penn State Continues Its Recruiting Surge in Wisconsin
Penn State has taken a productive recruiting ride through Wisconsin lately. The Lions have plucked three Wisconsin players, including the state's top two of the 2024 recruiting cycle, after receiving a commitment Friday from 4-star running back Corey Smith. Smith announced his decision Friday at his school.
At Catholic Memorial High in Waukesha, Smith was a first-team all-state running back last season, when he rushed for 1,304 yards and scored 26 touchdowns. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Smith has rushed for 2,452 yards and 44 touchdowns in his high school career.
The 5-11, 170-pound running back is the top-ranked back in Wisconsin and the No. 2 overall player, according to 247Sports. Penn State already has received a commitment from the state's top-ranked player, offensive lineman Donovan Harbour. Smith and Harbour are teammates at Catholic Memorial.
Smith has received offers from Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Illinois, among other schools. He visited Penn State for the Blue-White Game in April.
Smith is the third player from Wisconsin to commit to Penn State's 2024 recruiting class. Offensive lineman Garrett Sexton committed to the Lions on April 24. Penn State's 13-player class now ranks fifth nationally and third in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports Composite.
