Pitt Basketball Releases Season in Review Video
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers officially closed the book on their 2022-23 campaign, handing out All-ACC hardware and stitching "2023" onto the banner marking the program's NCAA Tournament appearances that will hang in the Petersen Events Center.
To help them mark the end of their landmark campaign, which saw the program transform from ACC cellar-dweller to NCAA Tournament team and contender in their own conference, the Panthers released a "Season Recap" video. It provided a cinematic retelling of their trip from ugly losses to Michigan and West Virginia up to their two wins in the Big Dance.
The video provided alternate highlights to some of the best moments of the season, from their blowout of Northwestern in the ACC-Big 10 Challenge, to consecutive ranked wins at home over Virginia (when Jamarius Burton told his team that the Cavaliers "came knocking on the wrong f****** door today) and North Carolina, to the comeback victory over Miami and demolition of Syracuse on Senior Night.
Pitt's two wins over Mississippi State and Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament cap the highlight reel and head coach Jeff Capel's postgame speech to his players following the season-ending loss to Xavier sends everything to black at the very end.
"First and foremost, man, I'm really proud of you guys," Capel said. "This year has been one of the most rewarding years of my life. ... What you brought every day is something that, as we move forward with this program, that I'm going to try and hang on to and cling on to and teach. You guys beleived, you fought, you were incredibly together. ... I love every one of you guys and I'm so grateful and so thankful that all of you, at the right moment, you all entered into my life."
