PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers point guard Bub Carrington is solidifying his spot as one of the best in his class of young college basketball stars.

Fox Sports analyst John Fanta released a list of the top 10 freshmen in the sport right now and Pitt's Carrington checked in at No. 6 after earning an impressive conference honor earlier this week.

"The two-time ACC Freshman of the Week is one of the most intriguing players in this class," Fanta wrote. "Carrington has outstanding passing ability for someone his age and an aggressiveness on defense that sticks out."

Carrington took his licks early when he was first introduced to Power 5 competition but has settled in since with bounce-back performances against West Virginia and Canisius.

"Although his efficiency has been a bit of a question mark in terms of shotmaking," Fanta said. "Carrington combined to shoot 13-of-29 from the floor in a pair of wins this past week with 14 assists, including a 16-point, nine-assist game in a win at West Virginia. His upside at 6'5 is really special, and his instincts to pass really jump out on tape."

Carrington was the only ACC freshman to crack the top 10, but North Carolina's Elliot Cadaeu, Georgia Tech's Baye Ndongo and Notre Dame's Markus Burton earned spots on Fanta's watchlist.
