PITTSBURGH -- At the current moment, we're closer to last season's bowl games than we are to next season's. Bowl season is still more than seven months away but that won't stop some analysts from releasing projections for who will play whom in the coming postseason, including the Pitt Panthers.

Brett McMurphy from Action Network has released a very early round of bowl game projections and he predicts Pitt will head to Charlotte, North Carolina to face Ole Miss in the Duke's Mayo Bowl at Bank of America Stadium.

The Panthers and Rebels have met once since 2000 and it came during the 2013 postseason at the BBVA Compass Bowl, played in Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The Panthers fell 38-17 that day in soggy conditions.

McMurphy added that the Panthers would be heavy underdogs should they play the Rebels in a bowl game. He predicted Ole Miss would be favored by 20 points over Pitt in this hypothetical matchup between the SEC and ACC.
