PITTSBURGH -- For the better part of this week, former Pitt Panthers and New York Jets great Darrelle Revis and Asante Samuel have been engaged in a purely verbal conflict on Twitter. Samuel claims the "New York media" helped elevate Revis' image as a player when he wasn't as "special" as many think.

After two days of sparring on social media, Revis suggested the two bring their fight offline and into real life. The former Pitt star challenged Samuel to a boxing match, to which he responded "Let's do it! I star ready."

Samuel and Revis have been going back and forth on Twitter for the better part of the past week, ever since Samuel called out Jets star Sauce Gardner and Revis following the release of a top 10 cornerbacks list as voted on by scouts, executives, coaches and players. Samuel claims Revis and Gardner got a boost in reputation because they played in a larger market.

Revis fired back, claiming the Jets would target Samuel with double-moves because he had a reputation for taking risks in man coverage and reminded him of the dropped interception in Super Bowl XLII that could have secured a perfect season for the New England Patriots. He then went on to say that he and Samuel aren't the same caliber of player.

"Stop saying there is a beef," Revis said. "There is no beef. One player is a Hall of Famer and the other is not and wants to be considered one."
