PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett doesn't plan on letting a rob injury keep him out of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Thursday Night Football game this week against the Tennessee Titans.

Pickett, a former first-round pick out of Pitt in 2022, told reporters this week that he will "for sure" play against the Titans despite some lingering pain from the injury suffered just days prior in the Steelers' 20-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"It’ll be better in a couple of days," Pickett said. "It’s still early."

Pickett said it hurts when he throws but that the discomfort is not enough to handicap his throwing motion. He was hurt just before halftime against the Jaguars and attempted to warm up and return to action after intermission but didn't feel good enough to come back into the game.

But Pickett anticipates being able to gut it out. A final decision will be made later in the week, after the Steelers complete their final practice on Wednesday. Mitch Trubiksy will start if Pickett is unable to play.
