PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers were one of the first to extend an offer to 2025 guard Darius Acuff, a rising junior out of Michigan, and they're working to keep up the relationship at the end of the recruiting dead period this week.

Pitt contacted Acuff this week as he fields calls and messages from high majors around the country. UCF, Iowa State, Michigan State, Kentucky, Michigan, Rutgers, Nebraska, LSU and Indiana also reached out to Acuff this week.

Acuff led Class Technical High School to its first state championship win last season, finishing with a 27-1 record while averaging 21.4 points and 5.7 assists per game. He was ultimately named 2022-23 MaxPreps Michigan High School Basketball Player of the Year. For his AAU team, The Family, he was named the top underclassman of the Nike EYBL Circuit's Session I after averaging 18.2 points on 60% shooting, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

Acuff is currently No. 45 in ESPN's top 60 sophomores, the No. 2 player in his state and No. 10 at his position. They are the only recruiting site to have specific ratings and rankings for Acuff.
