Billy Napier & Gators Making Adjustments In Prep For Williams-Brice Stadium

South Carolina's Football opponent this weekend has had a rough go of it on the road in their coach's tenure, and they're looking to change things up.

This year, more than any other time in recent college football history, home-field advantage has seemingly had an even greater effect on the end results of football games. This has subsequently increased the importance of a team possessing the ability to weather the storm on the road, especially in a conference like the SEC, where several venues are considered some of the best in the entire sport.

Florida Gators coach Billy Napier believes that's the case with South Carolina's home stadium, Williams-Brice, calling it at his weekly Monday press conference "one of the tougher and better venues in the country." This concerns some Gator fans heading into their week seven matchup with Shane Beamer's South Carolina Gamecocks, as they've only won one game away from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in seven opportunities since Billy took over. Combine that with the likelihood that Beamer and his team are deadset on getting revenge after what happened in Gainesville last season and have had a whole extra week to prepare for this game, and the task for Florida is even more daunting than usual.

When asked about the Gators road woes on Monday afternoon, Napier put coach-speak to the side and admitted that the staff was changing some things regarding the team's itinerary.

"We're gonna try to get to Columbia a little bit earlier this week. We're tweaking our schedule on Thursday. We're gonna put a huge emphasis on sleep Wednesday night," Napier explained.

This is just one of the many reasons these major college football coaches get paid millions of dollars a year: when a bad trend has formed in your program, you make minor tweaks to try and change your fortunes in that area. Just to what degree these changes being implemented by Billy and Co. will work remains to be seen.
