Through the first two weeks of the 2023 season, Spencer Rattler looks like the quarterback who led South Carolina to two straight victories over Top 10 teams in Tennessee and Clemson during the regular season this past Fall. He's completed 83.3 percent of his passes for 698 passing yards and four total touchdowns, with some of those marks ranking near the top in the SEC and all of college football.

This past weekend against the Furman Paladins, Rattler played as clean of a football game as one quarterback can, considering that he played against an FCS opponent and was coming off a game where he was sacked nine times primarily due to the poor pass protection from the offensive line. The fifth-year gunslinger completed 92.6 percent of his passes for 345 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and added another touchdown on the ground.

This performance ranked at the top of the conference in terms of overall efficiency in week two, which led to Rattler being named the SEC's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Rattler was largely overlooked by national talking heads this season due to the inconsistencies he's displayed throughout his college career, but if he can continue to play at this level, the conversation around Spencer and where he ranks amongst the best passers in the sport will change very quickly.
