Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football program have put on emphasis on recruiting the trenches over the past 10 months, landing offensive linemen like Markee Anderson, Oluwatosin Babalade and Kam Pringle. This recruiting strategy has continued to pick up steam as the Gamecocks go further into the 2024 recruiting cycle, with in-state linemen like Josiah Thompson and Blake Franks drawing heavy interest from the program.

There's multiple offensive line prospects, however, from the 2025 recruiting cycle that are worth keeping an eye on as far as South Carolina's recruiting efforts are concerned, and one of them is Virginia native Jaylen Gilchrist. Gilchrist plays for the Salem Sundevils in Virginia Beach, and is already viewed by multiple recruiting services websites as one of the best offensive tackle prospects for his class, having landed fifteen power five offers from up and down the eastern seaboard.

Gilchrist has already made one visit to Columbia, one where he attended the Gamecocks' matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs this past September, and it appears he's interested in looking into the program further, as he's announced a return trip date for March the 16th.
