REPORT: 2024 Edge Rusher KingJoseph Edwards Names Gamecocks His Leader
South Carolina Gamecock fans have eagerly awaited any nuggets of information they can get when it comes to 5-star edge rusher Dylan Stewart, and for good reason, as Carolina believes they are near the head of the table regarding Stewart's recruitment. With that bearing in mind, however, it would behoove the Gamecocks to put themselves in prime position for another edge rusher on their board due to the amount of seniority their current group of defensive ends has accumulated and the fact that, truthfully, there's no guarantee with Stewart at the end of the day.
One edge rusher who's subtly coming back into the recruiting limelight for South Carolina fans is KingJoseph Edwards, who, through a fan interaction on Twitter yesterday morning, made it known that the Gamecocks were in his Top 3. Now, the Georgia native has taken this revelation as mentioned earlier a step further, as in an interview with SportsTalk Media Network's Phil Kornblut, Edwards told the Network that South Carolina has taken the pole position in his recruitment.
KingJoseph missed the majority of his junior season with a labrum injury, but based on his offer sheet, easily possesses one of the highest ceilings at the edge position for this class, with teams like Georgia, Miami, Southern Cal, Ohio State, Alabama, LSU and plenty of others having thrown their proverbial hat in the ring. Edwards has yet to take an official visit to Columbia, something that could wind up paying big dividends for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks this Fall.
