College football's best games today: Week 11 schedule, what to watch
Chaos could be in the air this weekend as the 2023 college football schedule turns to an action-packed Week 11 slate of games, with conference and national championship contenders on the field against potential upset agents and hoping to not make any big mistakes as Championship Saturday gets closer.
- Especially Michigan, which will apparently be without coach Jim Harbaugh after the Big Ten suspended him the rest of the season over sign stealing allegations
- Wolverines head to Penn State in a critical matchup of top-10 Big Ten rivals
- Washington hosts Utah and its tough defense in Pac-12 clash
- Missouri welcomes Tennessee in SEC East fistfight with both teams ranked
Here are the most important games you should be watching on the Week 11 schedule as college football's contenders step onto the gridiron in crucial November action.
All times Eastern
Michigan at Penn State
Why watch? This game just got extremely interesting, even more than it was before. That's after the Big Ten suspended Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for the remainder of the season amid sign-stealing allegations. Where does that leave the Wolverines? Good question, as they go head-to-head in by far their toughest game of the year, against a Penn State defense that is among college football's best. The winner inches closer to a potential Big Ten title, although the Lions would need help from the Buckeyes.
When: 12 p.m. on Fox
Prediction: Michigan vs. Penn State
Utah at Washington
Why watch? So far, the Huskies have passed every test and are undefeated at the top of the Pac-12 standings. But the Utes will present a tough test on the defensive side of the ball, with the bodies up front to pressure Michael Penix, and a secondary that can challenge Washington's receivers. UW has struggled in a few games lately and can ill afford any mistakes this late in the season.
When: 3:30 p.m. on Fox
Prediction: Utah vs. Washington
Tennessee at Missouri
Why watch? To see which team earns the right to be called the No. 2 team in the SEC East. All the more valuable for Tennessee, which hosts leader Georgia next week. And equally important for Missouri, which lost to the Bulldogs last week and want to avoid a third loss in what has been a remarkable season. Mizzou has the passing attack to stay ahead, but the Vols play tough defense on the line and boast a top-five rushing attack.
When: 3:30 p.m. on CBS
Prediction: Tennessee vs. Missouri
Ole Miss at Georgia
Why watch? Georgia passed the first test of a three-game stand against ranked SEC competition by taking down Missouri, and now the defending champs get a crack at Ole Miss, which handed Kirby Smart his worst loss at UGA back in 2016. This time, the Rebels can pack a punch offensively behind some gifted skill threats and are playing solid defense.
When: 7 p.m. on ESPN
Prediction: Ole Miss vs. Georgia
USC at Oregon
Why watch? In part, to see if the departure of Alex Grinch will have any positive impact on the terrible, awful, not very good defense the Trojans have played this season. Don't count on any miracles, but Caleb Williams and USC's skill targets should find some room to make this game closer than expected, but the Ducks are one of college football's most balanced teams and are angling for a spot in the Pac-12 title game.
When: 10:30 p.m. on Fox
Prediction: USC vs. Oregon
