Here is Vegas' Over Under Wins Total for the 2023 Detroit Tigers
BETMGM recently released its over/under win totals, now available for betting.
The casino has the Detroit Tigers at 69.5 wins.
After a promising 2021 season, the Tigers appeared to be a team on the rise and a trendy pick entering the 2022 season. The club struggled mightily, however, winning 66 games — 11 fewer than it did a season prior.
The Tigers' disastrous 2022 season prompted the firing of president of baseball operations Al Avila, subsequently replacing him with former San Francisco Giants general manager and Chicago Cubs assistant GM Scott Harris.
Over the winter, the Tigers signed free agent starting pitchers Matthew Boyd and Michael Lorenzen, while trading All-Star closer Gregory Soto to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Matt Vierling, Nick Maton and Donny Sands.
The Tigers likely will not benefit from Major League Baseball's new schedule, where teams will play less games against division opponents. Now each club will play all 29 other MLB teams, each season. The AL Central was the weakest division in the American League a season ago. The Tigers will play fewer games against weak teams in their division.
The Tigers would need to improve by four games from 2022 to 2023 in order to finish above the 69.5 win threshold.
The club will need a resurgent season out of shortstop Javier Baez. Baez, 30, is entering the second season of his six-year, $140 million contract. Baez posted an On Base Percentage of just .278 in 2022, while batting .238 with a .671 OPS, 17 home runs and 67 RBI. The Tigers will need Baez to play the way he did in his 47 games with the New York Mets in 2021, where he slashed .299/.371/.886, in order to make any serious improvement this season.
