Start ’Em, Sit ’Em Kickers and Team Defenses Fantasy Football Week 10: Jets Hit the Jackpot in Las Vegas

Expect Gang Green to shut down Raiders on the road.

Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Week 10 Start ’Em: Defenses

Start of the Week

Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (95) during a practice at the Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club.
Kirby Lee/USA TODAY Sports

Jets defense at Raiders (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC): The Jets defense is a top-10 unit in fantasy leagues, and I like this weekend’s game against the inexperienced Aidan O’Connell and the Raiders. Defenses have averaged the seventh-most points in games against Las Vegas, which is tied for the fifth-most giveaways committed.

Start ’Em

Seahawks defense vs. Commanders (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): The Seahawks D/ST was awful last week, allowing 37 points to the Ravens in a blowout loss. I’d still use this unit this week, though, as it faces the Commanders in Seattle. Washington has allowed the second-most sacks (44) and has committed 14 giveaways in 2023.

Falcons defense at Cardinals ($3,700)
49ers defense at Jaguars ($3,600)

Week 9 Sit ’Em: Defenses

Sit of the Week

Jaguars defense vs. 49ers (1 p.m. ET, Fox): The Jaguars defense is a tough sell for fantasy fans this week against the Niners. Opposing defenses have averaged the fewest fantasy points when facing Brock Purdy and his offense, which has allowed just 14 sacks and has committed a mere nine giveaways in 2023.

Sit ’Em

Bengals defense vs. Texans (1 p.m. ET, CBS): The Texans offense has been one of the least generous for enemy fantasy defenses, committing a league-low five giveaways and allowing a modest 18 sacks. That’s bad news for the Bengals defense, which should be faded in most leagues based on the matchup.

Fabs’ Top 10 Kickers

1. Justin Tucker vs. Browns
2. Brandon Aubrey vs. Giants
3. Matt Gay at Patriots (Frankfurt)
4. Blake Grupe at Vikings
5. Tyler Bass vs. Broncos (Mon.)
6. Evan McPherson vs. Texans
7. Younghoe Koo at Cardinals
8. Cameron Dicker vs. Lions
9. Brandon McManus vs. 49ers
10. Jason Myers vs. Commanders

Byes: Chiefs, Dolphins, Eagles, Rams

Week 10 Start ’Em: Kickers

Start of the Week

Matt Gay at Patriots (Frankfurt 9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network): Gay has been one of the top kickers in fantasy football this season, and a matchup against the Pats makes him a solid option this week. Their defense has allowed 12 or more points to kickers four times, and they’re allowing the fifth-most points to the position.

Start ’Em

Jason Myers vs. Commanders (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Myers has been tough to start lately, scoring a combined nine fantasy points in his last two games. He is in a good position to rebound this week, though, as the Commanders have surrendered an average of nearly 10 fantasy points per game to enemy kickers this season.

More Starts

Blake Grupe at Vikings (1 p.m. ET, Fox)
Chase McLaughlin vs. Titans (1 p.m. ET, CBS)
Younghoe Koo at Cardinals (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS)

Week 9 Sit ’Em: Kickers

Sit of the Week

Jake Moody at Jaguars (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Moody’s numbers have decreased after a fast start, as he’s failed to score more than seven points in each of his last five games. I’d continue to fade him this week, as Moody faces a Jaguars defense that has allowed an average of just six fantasy points per game to kickers this season.

Sit ’Em

Riley Patterson at Chargers (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS): Patterson is coming off a huge stat line, scoring 16 fantasy points before the bye week. Regardless, an upcoming matchup against the Chargers makes Patterson a tough sell in Week 10. Their defense has allowed an average of fewer than seven points a game to kickers.
